An exploratory poetry workshop reflecting on longing, displacement, memory, and fragmentation through TYEB MEHTA’s Diagonal Series.

TYEB MEHTA Bearing Weight FEATURED EVENTS

Drawing inspiration from TYEB MEHTA’s Diagonal Series and Falling Figures, this poetry workshop explores the emotional and socio-political resonances within the artist’s works. Through guided writing exercises, conversations, and creative prompts, participants reflect on questions of division, connection, rupture, and transformation.

Centred on the recurring motif of the diagonal, the session invites participants to consider how these lines appear within their own lives, shaping experiences of longing, displacement, memory, and emotional fragmentation. Moving between visual interpretation and poetic response, the workshop approaches poetry as a way of entering both the artwork and the self.

Designed as an open and reflective space, the session encourages participants to share ideas, listen closely, and collectively respond to the exhibition through writing and conversation.

About Dillipoetry

Dillipoetry is a literary platform committed to making poetry accessible, experiential, and embodied. Over the past three years, it has curated more than 150 poetry walks and workshops exploring themes such as climate emergency, identity, resistance, queer ecologies, and humanity’s relationship with nature.

Through these gatherings, Dillipoetry has built a community of poets across multiple cities, creating spaces for reflection, dialogue, and collective imagination.

About Meeting Point

Meeting Point is a discursive platform centred around key works and themes within TYEB MEHTA’s practice. The title draws from MEHTA’s 1970 film Koodal, which translates to “meeting point” in Tamil.

Through workshops, lectures, discussions, poetry, sketching sessions, and informal gatherings, the programme reimagines the exhibition space as a site of dialogue and collective reflection.
