A workshop exploring nature, patterns, and storytelling through visual forms.

Songlines FEATURED EVENTS

Nature has long inspired artists through its shapes, rhythms, and patterns. Across cultures, artists have translated observations of land, movement, and everyday life into symbols and motifs that reflect shared relationships with place and community. Drawing inspiration from the Songlines: Tracking the Seven Sisters, this workshop explores how journeys, memory, and landscapes can be expressed through visual storytelling.

Inspired by the visual language of Warli art, the session introduces participants to its distinctive symbols, figures, and graphic compositions. Rooted in storytelling traditions, Warli art demonstrates how simple forms can hold layered meaning and collective memory.

Through collaborative art-making, families will create their own artworks using nature-inspired shapes and patterns. Participants will reinterpret traditional Warli motifs using contemporary materials and colours, creating personal visual stories inspired by landscape and movement.

Designed as a shared experience for children and adults, the workshop encourages creativity, observation, and dialogue while offering a playful introduction to traditional visual storytelling in a contemporary context.
