This edition of the Sketching Series comes to Utsav, The Square, GMR Aerocity in collaboration with India Experience, inviting participants to engage with observational drawing through the study of the human figure.

Focusing on gesture, posture, movement, and proportion, the session encourages participants to observe how the body communicates through form and presence. Through guided sketch-based exercises, participants will explore structure, rhythm, balance, and expression, developing an understanding of how simple lines and marks can capture movement, character, and mood.

Moving between quick studies and sustained observation, the workshop introduces different approaches to figure drawing while encouraging individual interpretation and creative exploration. The session offers an opportunity to strengthen observational skills and engage more deeply with the expressive possibilities of drawing from life.

Sanjay Kumar is a Delhi-based artist and educator with over two decades of experience in drawing, painting, and visual storytelling. Recognised for his expertise in observational drawing, composition, and chiaroscuro, his practice combines classical techniques with contemporary approaches to art education.
