An artist-led workshop exploring the intersection of art and mathematics through the works of TYEB MEHTA

TYEB MEHTA Bearing Weight FEATURED EVENTS

Centred on TYEB MEHTA’s drawings and sketches, this workshop explores how forms emerge, evolve, and occupy space through the relationship between art and mathematics. Facilitated by Anni Kumari, the session introduces participants to concepts from coordinate and fractal geometry, examining how grids, lines, curves, and spatial structures appear within MEHTA’s visual language.

Through guided exercises using graph paper and simple geometrical tools such as scales, compasses, and protractors, participants experiment with plotting coordinates, constructing curves, and layering forms in motion. The workshop encourages participants to think about geometry not only as a structural system, but also as an expressive tool that shapes movement, tension, and perspective within an artwork.

The session begins with a walkthrough of the exhibition and concludes with a light brunch.
