This summer, the Kiran Nadar Museum of Art (KNMA) comes to Utsav, The Square, GMR Aerocity, in collaboration with India Experience, presenting seven thoughtfully curated  artist-led workshops and family experiences. Designed for participants of different ages and interests, the programme creates opportunities to engage with artistic practices through making, observation, conversation, and creative exploration.

Shaping Stories in Clay
19 September 2026 | 11.00am – 1.00pm | Ages 5+
Transform two-dimensional motifs into three-dimensional clay compositions while exploring shape, proportion, texture, and surface. Drawing inspiration from Kalighat paintings and the bold visual language of Jamini Roy, participants will discover how familiar forms can take on new dimensions through clay and hands-on making.

Folding Surfaces: From Two Dimensions to Three
20 September 2026 | 12.00pm – 4.00pm | Ages 16+
Transform a flat sheet of paper into dynamic three-dimensional forms through folding, repetition, and variation. Led by artist Shovna Pathak, participants will experiment with simple folds to create structure, depth, rhythm, and movement while exploring paper as a material for sculptural and spatial expression. Through hands-on making, they will discover how small gestures can come together to create complex three-dimensional compositions.

Sculpting Play
5 September 2026 | 11.00am – 1.00pm | Ages 5+
Create imaginative clay toys while exploring hand-building techniques such as pinching, coiling, rolling, and shaping. Inspired by the playful visual language of K.G. Subramanyan, participants will experiment with form, texture, and volume while discovering how clay, craft traditions, and creative play come together through hands-on making.

Hasta: Mudras in Everyday Life
9 August 2026 | 12.00pm – 4.00pm | Ages 5+
Explore the expressive language of Bharatanatyam mudras and discover how gestures can communicate stories, emotions, and ideas. Led by Bharatanatyam dancer Shreyasi Gopinath, participants will learn selected Asamyuta (single-hand) and Samyuta (double-hand) hastas inspired by the Natya Shastra, while exploring the relationship between gesture, facial expression, rhythm, and movement. Through guided activities, participants will create simple gesture-based narratives and a short Bharatanatyam-inspired movement sequence.

Pipli Lampshade
8 August 2026 | 11.00am – 1.00pm | Ages 5+
Explore the vibrant art of Pipli appliqué by creating a colourful decorative lampshade inspired by the folk craft traditions of Odisha. Facilitated by Museum Educators, participants will experiment with layering shapes, patterns, and colours using appliqué-inspired techniques while discovering the distinctive motifs and decorative traditions of Pipli. As they work with colour, pattern, and transparency, they will observe how light transforms individual elements into a striking visual composition.

Woven Patterns
2 August 2026 | 12.00pm – 4.00pm | Ages 16+
Discover the art of tapestry weaving through colour, texture, pattern, and composition. Led by artist Anshu Singh, participants will learn the fundamentals of tapestry weaving while creating their own woven pieces inspired by both traditional techniques and contemporary textile practices.

IF ONLY (Play)
1 – 2 August 2026 | 7.30pm | Ages 18+
Experience IF ONLY, a contemporary play that follows four young adults navigating the unpredictable world of the Hindi film industry. As ambition, identity, and personal relationships become increasingly intertwined, each is forced to confront choices that could reshape their future. Directed by theatre practitioner Vidushi Mehra, the production explores aspiration, authenticity, and the personal cost of pursuing success. Following its presentation at KNMA New Delhi, IF ONLY comes to GMR Aerocity as part of KNMA Art Hours.

Second Skin: Weaving Hidden Stories

Explore weaving as a creative tool for storytelling through thread, paper, and layered compositions. Led by artist Sheli Gupta, participants will experiment with weaving, drawing, and layering techniques while discovering how textile traditions can inspire contemporary visual narratives.

Textile Mosaic
1 August 2026 | 11.00am – 1.00pm | Ages 5+
Explore the art of creating mosaic-like artworks using colourful fabrics and a no-stitch textile inlay technique. Inspired by the Japanese art of Kinu Saiga, participants will experiment with pattern, texture, layering, and composition while creating their own textile mosaics.

Surface to Print: A Linocut Printing Workshop
26 July 2026 | 12.00pm – 4.00pm | Ages 16+
Learn the complete linocut printmaking process, from developing a design and carving a linoleum block to inking and producing multiple original prints. Whether you are discovering a new artistic practice, refining existing skills, or spending creative time with family, the programme offers opportunities to engage with art in accessible, hands-on, and imaginative ways.

About the Facilitator
Nikita Gupta is a Delhi-based printmaker and art educator whose practice spans traditional and experimental printmaking. Through her workshops, she encourages participants to explore layering, texture, found materials, and process-driven experimentation in an accessible and engaging manner
