A family workshop exploring the future through collage and the expressive language of fragments, inspired by Tyeb Mehta’s use of fragmentation, tension, and distilled form.

TYEB MEHTA Bearing Weight FEATURED EVENTS

Five Years From Now is a collage-based Saturday Family Workshop inviting participants to imagine the future through feeling, intuition, and visual exploration rather than fixed plans. Inspired by Tyeb Mehta’s artistic language, where fragments, divisions, and simplified forms create emotionally charged images, the workshop encourages families to express inner experiences through shape, colour, and composition.

Participants will work with everyday paper materials such as receipts, printed text, coloured sheets, and found fragments, cutting, arranging, and layering them into a unified artwork. As pieces are separated and brought together in new relationships, participants explore how images can hold ideas of change, uncertainty, hope, and possibility.

Rather than producing a literal plan for the future, the collage becomes an intuitive visual projection where thoughts, memories, and aspirations take shape. Through assembling fragments and experimenting with placement and layering, participants discover how simple visual elements can carry complex emotional meaning. Families leave with a personal collage and a deeper understanding of how artists like Tyeb Mehta used fragmentation and composition to express psychological and emotional states.
