A creative workshop exploring rhythm, repetition, and pattern through traditional textile practices and abstraction.

Inspired by KNMA’s ongoing exhibition In-Rhythm, featuring the works of Nasreen Mohamedi and Bice Lazzari, this workshop explores how lines, grids, and repeated forms come together to create visual rhythms and structures. Drawing connections between the artists’ use of line and repetition, patterns found in the natural world, such as the intricate structure of a spider’s web, and the rhythms of woven textiles, participants discover links between abstraction and traditional craft practices.

Taking inspiration from Patola weaving and cross-stitch embroidery, participants create their own repeating patterns using traditional motifs. Through grids, symmetry, and repetition, they explore how simple elements come together to form intricate compositions.
