A playful drawing session celebrating identity, self-expression, and queer storytelling through experimentation and collective creativity.

Bad Drawing Party (Queer India Now Edition) is a playful and participatory session led by Priya Dali of Gaysi Family, celebrating the launch of Queer India Now, published by Westland. Conceived as the opposite of a conventional workshop, the session invites participants to let go of perfection, embrace experimentation, and draw badly.

Through prompts, conversations, and collective mark-making, participants will explore ideas of identity, self-expression, belonging, and storytelling beyond dominant definitions of beauty, bodies, relationships, and community. Rather than focusing on skill or technique, the session creates space for spontaneity, vulnerability, humour, and imagination.

Inspired by the personal and defiant narratives featured in Queer India Now, the gathering encourages participants to question expectations around creativity and expression. By embracing mistakes, absurdity, and the unexpected, the session opens up possibilities for imagining alternate futures where diverse identities, experiences, and ways of being can coexist.

Designed as an open and welcoming space, Bad Drawing Party celebrates drawing as a tool for conversation, connection, and collective reflection.
