The Kiran Nadar Museum of Art is pleased to collaborate with La Biennale di Venezia to present Indian Interior, the fourth chapter of The Wind Makes the Sky. La Biennale di Venezia in the footsteps of Marco Polo. Following its presentations in Hangzhou, Venice, and Istanbul, the project now arrives in New Delhi, marking a significant moment in its international journey.

Indian Interior explores the evolving creative identity of contemporary India, where art, design, and craftsmanship intersect seamlessly. The exhibition reflects the dynamic processes shaping everyday aesthetics and highlights practices that reinterpret material value, revive traditional knowledge, and respond to the social and ecological concerns of the present.

Through a unified display format, the exhibition creates an immersive environment—an “Indian interior”—where distinctions between disciplines dissolve. This approach resonates closely with KNMA’s commitment to supporting interdisciplinary dialogues and showcasing the breadth of creative expression emerging from the subcontinent.

As Kiran Nadar, Chairperson and Founder of KNMA, notes, India held a special place in Marco Polo’s journey—a land defined by material richness, skilled craftsmanship, and cultural plurality. Indian Interior builds upon this legacy, presenting contemporary creators who continue to expand and redefine India’s artistic landscape.

By hosting this chapter of the Biennale project in New Delhi, KNMA furthers its mission to facilitate global cultural exchange and to foreground artistic innovation from India within an international context.
