An exhibition presents four new large-scale bronze sculptures set against the lush greenery of Brooklyn Bridge Park. Drawing from a rich tapestry of influences, Bhabha’s works merge aesthetic, cultural, and psychological elements, exploring the intersections of art, science fiction, horror, and mythology. Known for her reimagining of the human figure, Bhabha crafts sculptures, drawings, and installations that challenge traditional forms. The four bronze sculptures were created by casting carved cork and skull fragments, resulting in mysterious figures reminiscent of ancient effigies carved into tombstones. These expressive, eight-foot-tall forms—titled Feel the Hammer, Member, Mr. Stone, and Nothing Falls—seem to either emerge from the earth’s depths or descend back into the underworld, their surfaces bearing the appearance of centuries-old eroded stone. The exhibition’s title, Before The End, evokes a sense of momentous intensity, theatricality, and subtle humour.
