The Golden Sheep and The Sacred Mountain film screening and discussion at KNMA
A film screening followed by a conversation with filmmaker Ridham Janve and curator Neha ‘Zooni’ Tickoo.

The film The Golden Sheep and The Sacred Mountain (2018), directed by Ridham Janve, unfolds within the stark landscapes of the Himalayas. It follows an ageing shepherd who, driven by rumours of a crashed aircraft carrying hidden wealth, abandons his flock in search of fortune. As his journey unfolds, greed, myth, and the sanctity of the land begin to intersect, revealing how human desire can disrupt ecological and spiritual balance.

Set against a terrain far removed from postcard imagery, the film presents the Himalayas as a site of tension, endurance, and consequence. Featuring non-professional actors drawn from local communities, it captures a lived reality where danger is constant and survival is deeply intertwined with the rhythms of the land.

The screening is followed by a conversation with Ridham Janve and curator Neha ‘Zooni’ Tickoo, concluding with an audience Q&A. Part of KNMA’s ongoing film programme, the session continues the museum’s engagement with independent cinema, creating opportunities for audiences to connect with filmmakers and reflect on the creative process behind their work.
