Weekends at KNMA
Join pianists and vocalists Aching Shaiza and Neecia Majolly for an evening of music that moves between classical piano repertoire and beloved Broadway melodies. The programme brings together works by composers such as Frédéric Chopin, Béla Bartók, and Moritz Moszkowski alongside songs from musicals and films including Les Misérables, Funny Girl, Annie Get Your Gun, and Yentl.
Performed through a combination of piano solos, vocal performances, and four-hand piano works, the recital explores the expressive range of Western classical and musical theatre traditions. From the dramatic intensity of Chopin’s Revolutionary Étude to the lyrical beauty of The Prayer and the theatrical energy of Don’t Rain on My Parade, the programme presents a dynamic blend of virtuosity, storytelling, and musical dialogue.
The evening also includes selections from Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro, Stephen Sondheim’s A Little Night Music, and Bartók’s Romanian Dances, offering audiences a journey through different musical styles, moods, and traditions.
