Educational Outreach
How does an artist interact with the world around them? How does their art reflect my lived reality? Can I embark on a similar journey and become an artist?
These are just some of the questions that spark the imaginations of young students when they visit the KNMA and find art made accessible to them. A core tenet of the KNMA is to inculcate an appreciation for art and aesthetics in the young generation by curating experiences ranging from guided walkthroughs, and workshops, to meetings with artists, to pique their curiosity about the world they inhabit.
As art is deeply subjective, changing in meaning from what the artist creates to what the audience observes, KNMA’s art educators conceptualise individual and collaborative exercises to make students across all age groups and from various backgrounds feel connected with, and be more inquisitive about the art during the interactive sessions.
KNMA’s novel programming brings out the playfulness of art and makes the museum feel more personal to students, who have conferred creative monikers on KNMA like ‘Haathi waala museum’ (the ‘elephant museum’ after Bharti Kher’s large fibreglass sculpture) or ‘Taj Mahal wala museum’ (after Sudarshan Shetty’s work installation made of over 250 miniature Taj Mahals).
The museum has an active outreach and engagement programme with schools, universities and other educational institutes and curates tailormade experiences, to help make art foundational to the holistic development of students and young adults. Get in touch to explore how your students can best experience the world of KNMA.
