Dr. Preeti Bahadur Ramaswami is Senior Curator & Head – Classical Indian – Folk and Tribal Arts at the Kiran Nadar Museum of Art (KNMA). Since August 2024, she has been shaping the development of programming and collections for this wing of the museum, with a focus on aligning museum objects with scholarly research and building frameworks for future exhibitions, publications, and public programs.

An art historian and curator specializing in Indian miniature painting and manuscript illustrations, her work explores the intersections of aesthetic, literary, and performative traditions. Her interdisciplinary practice also extends to vernacular and indigenous artistic traditions from Central India.

Dr. Bahadur Ramaswami received her PhD on Ragamala miniatures in 2002 and has taught art history at institutions including the School of Arts and Aesthetics, Jawaharlal Nehru University, and Ashoka University. Her curatorial projects include Nauras: the Many Arts of the Deccan (National Museum, New Delhi, 2015) and The Figure of Sound (Anant Art Gallery, New Delhi, 2023). She is the recipient of fellowships from the India Foundation for the Arts and the Nehru Trust for Indian Collections at the V&A.

She is passionate about classical Indian music and jazz, and enjoys cooking in her free time.
