Film title: CHAAR PHOOL HAI AUR DUNIYA HAI
Language: Hindi, subtitled in English
Duration: 55 minutes
As part of the Cine Paradiso series of film screenings, KNMA presents Chaar Phool Hain Aur Duniya Hai, directed by Achal Mishra, a contemplative documentary dedicated to the life and work of celebrated Hindi writer and poet Vinod Kumar Shukla (1937-2025).
Filmed over two afternoons at the Raipur home of Vinod Kumar Shukla, his wife, and his son, the documentary moves gently between memory, reflection, and mundanity, foraging connections between past, present, and future, as it unfolds as a visually lyrical meditation on home, relationships, and the creative imagination that shaped Shukla’s remarkable body of work.
Following the screening, filmmaker Achal Mishra joins Shashwat Gopal Shukla, son of the late writer, and Neha Zooni Tickoo, Curator, KNMA. Together, they will reflect on Vinod Kumar Shukla’s literary legacy, the making of the film, and the enduring relationship between literature, memory, and cinema, and engage with the audiences through an open round of Q&A.
