Illustrated narrative artwork inspired by Pattachitra traditions for the Continuous Narration in Art workshop at KNMA.
Discover how stories unfold through a single image, inspired by the storytelling traditions of Pattachitra painting.

Inspired by Pata Dekhabo, an exhibition exploring narrative scrolls, storytelling traditions, and vernacular image-making practices from Bengal and Jharkhand, this Saturday Family Workshop introduces participants to the rich visual language of Pattachitra. Through paintings that weave together image and narrative, participants will discover how myths, rituals, and everyday life have been shared across generations.

Drawing from these traditions, participants will explore the concept of continuous narration, where multiple moments of a story are represented within a single composition. Using a short folktale or myth as inspiration, they will create their own painted narrative while experimenting with sequence, composition, and visual storytelling.

Designed for children and adults, the workshop offers an engaging introduction to Indian narrative painting traditions, encouraging creativity, observation, and imaginative storytelling through art-making.
