Explore cyanotype printing through light, composition, and creative experimentation inspired by TYEB MEHTA.

TYEB MEHTA Bearing Weight FEATURED EVENT

This Saturday Family Workshop introduces participants to cyanotype, an alternative camera-less printing process that uses light, objects, and composition to create striking blue-toned prints. Inspired by TYEB MEHTA’s spirit of experimentation, the session explores how simple visual interventions can transform everyday materials into compelling images.

Through guided activities, participants will experiment with cyanotype techniques while exploring ideas of form, abstraction, and fragmentation. Drawing inspiration from TYEB MEHTA’s use of the diagonal and fractured visual structures, the workshop examines how images can be constructed, disrupted, and reimagined through light-sensitive processes.

Working with shapes, objects, and carefully arranged compositions, participants will create their own cyanotype prints while exploring the relationship between light, material, and surface. The session encourages observation, experimentation, and creative interpretation, offering an engaging introduction to alternative photographic processes.

Designed for children and adults, the workshop provides an engaging space to explore creativity through hands-on making, collaborative learning, and the transformative possibilities of light-based printing.
