TYEB MEHTA Bearing Weight FEATURED EVENTS

This Saturday Family Workshop explores how a single diagonal line can shape movement, tension, and meaning within an artwork. Inspired by TYEB MEHTA’s iconic use of the diagonal, the session invites children and adults to work together while exploring how division and connection can coexist within the same visual space.

Working in pairs, participants will create a shared artwork structured around a diagonal divide. Using mixed media, each participant responds to one section of the composition through colours, forms, textures, and personal interpretations. As the two halves come together, the resulting work reveals relationships between contrast and continuity, difference and dialogue.

Through collaborative making, the workshop encourages participants to think about how composition influences perception and how visual elements can be fragmented, reassembled, and transformed into layered narratives. The session offers an engaging introduction to ideas of structure, balance, and storytelling through art.
