TYEB MEHTA FEATURED EVENTS
Tyeb Mela is a two-day programme that brings together film, performance, and conversation to reflect on the multifaceted practice of TYEB MEHTA. Rooted in his engagement with tradition, performance, and cinema, the programme creates a space where his visual language is reinterpreted through moving image, sound, and the body.
The first day features a curated film programme presenting works that resonate with MEHTA’s thematic concerns and cinematic sensibilities. The second day unfolds through live interventions within the exhibition space, beginning with a traditional dhak performance led by Toton Das from Bengal, echoing MEHTA’s Drummer series.
This is followed by a contemporary dance response led by Manju Sharma, where performers engage with the exhibition through movement, translating MEHTA’s visual vocabulary into bodily gestures across the gallery. The programme concludes with a panel discussion, opening up dialogue on the intersections of art, performance, and interpretation.
