Collection Highlights

Publisher: Kiran Nadar Museum of Art

The ‘Collection Highlights’ captures the cross-generational art practices from the pre- and post-Independence eras. The art, juxtaposed with the historical context of the artists and their works, demonstrates the shaping of the contemporary art movement in India and the subcontinent. Featuring works from seasoned masters belonging to major art movements along with those of younger artists, the collection attempts to encapsulate the range of diversity and perspectives in modern and contemporary art from across South Asia. The publication is the first in a series of curatorial documentation of the museum’s burgeoning collection.

The volume includes reflections on becoming an art collector and acquiring exemplary art pieces to build her expansive collection by Kiran Nadar, the Chairperson and Founder of the Kiran Nadar Museum of Art, along with the institution’s inclusive and universal vision and aspirations formulated by. Roobina Karode, Director and Chief Curator of the museum.
