Inheritors of Earth FEATURED EVENTS

Nature’s Archive invites participants to consider plants not only as subjects of artistic representation, but also as carriers of memory, knowledge, and stories of place. Led by wildlife artist Richa Kedia and rewilding practitioner Vijay Dhasmana, the workshop unfolds across two days, moving from the landscapes of the Aravallis to the museum.

The first day begins with a guided walk through Aravalli Biodiversity Park led by Vijay Dhasmana, introducing participants to native trees, their habitats, and the principles of ecological restoration and rewilding. This is followed by a nature journaling and field-sketching session with Richa Kedia, where participants will closely observe and record the forms, textures, patterns, colours, and details encountered during the walk.

On the second day at KNMA, participants will explore Inheritors of Earth and encounter artistic practices engaging with plants, botanical forms, materiality, and traces of the natural world. Connecting their outdoor observations with the artworks on view, they will revisit their field sketches and develop a final artwork that reflects on how plants can be observed, recorded, remembered, and represented.

Through looking, sketching, recording, and making, the workshop offers an opportunity to deepen connections with the natural world and explore how plants can become subjects, stories, memories, and forms of artistic expression.

About the Facilitators

Vijay Dhasmana is an eco-restoration and rewilding practitioner best known for leading the restoration of Aravalli Biodiversity Park, transforming a mined landscape into a thriving urban forest. His work spans forest conservation, ecological restoration, and natural resource management across diverse landscapes in India.

Richa Kedia is a wildlife illustrator and naturalist whose practice combines field observation, research, and drawing to document India’s biodiversity. Working primarily in watercolour, she collaborates with conservation organisations, forest departments, and environmental initiatives to encourage deeper engagement with the natural world through art.
